Ni Hao from Shanghai

holy crap i am in china.  it is still a little surreal since i have known i had this job since feb.  i had an hr flight to san fran......lindsay, who i work with, was on that flight, so we got to chat in the airport for a bit.  landed in san fran to find out our flight to shanghai was delayed 4 hrs...geez!  no fun at all.  we wandered around the airport and found aimee, another girl we are working with.  we eventually ate lunch and then found 4 other girls we were working with. so we had a nice pow wow in the airport.  we finally got to board..no effin tv's on the seat in front of us.  i wanted to die!  but, i made due.  the girl sitting next to me was awesome.  she is 18, from a provice outside of shanghai.  she gave me lots of helpful tips.  when she was 9 she went to a ballet boarding school in beijing...so she lived in a dorm type thing with other kids.  then when she was 16 she was recruited by the houston ballet company.  she hasnt been home in 2 yrs.  she must be an amazing ballet chick!  she gets paid and gets to travel around the world to perform!  she was a pleasure to talk to.  my friend lindsay was sitting two rows back, so i got up to talk to her often.  watched part of alice in wonderland...fell asleep.  i think my neck is still sore from sleeping.

finally landed in shanghai around 845 pm!  we all got our luggage...headed thru customs...super easy.  we spotted our disney reps, met 2 other ppl that had flown in a lil before us, changed money....then headed to the disney van.  oh man!  this thing was all decked out.  what am i getting myself into??  ahhh!!!!  got to the hotel, checked in.....organized all my clothes, etc.  the room is awesome.  kind bed.....normal pillows and rice pillows.  hot water boiler, fridge, safe, pretty good. oh and we get free breakfast each morning!!!  i wasnt really tired so i just sat around and organized my stuff.  i went to plug my power pack in with my adapter...ya i blew a fuse and my whole room went dark.  i am awesome!  the front desk didnt speak english...so i didnt want to go down there at 1 am and start gesturing.  so, i just went to bed...well i tried to.  i could hear my neighbors speaking very loudly and watching tv til 145 am. i slept off and on and then finally woke up at 630.

luckily at 645 am my power somehow kicked back on...i wasnt looking forward to getting ready in the dark.  i met some of the girls for breakfast.  we opted for the chinese bfast:  fried rice, dumpling, boiled egg and juice.  it was delicious.  i forgot to bring my camera up..so i will get a pic later.  after bfast we got picked up by some of the language trainers....they made us figure out how to get to the metro and to the corporate office on our own.  it was fun.  we got bank accounts and cell phones.  this was quite a task since there were 13 of us!!!!!!!!  but, we had to get it done.  we also had to sign some paperwork in one of the offices.  quite a few of my co workers are married, but their spouses are at home.  one bf/gf are here together.  another married couple is here, but the husband is looking for work.  everyone is awesome.  super friendly, great travel stories, interesting backgrounds.  love it!

it was humid most of the day and drizzly.  walking around town was fun, but since we were on a mission to get everything done....we didnt get to see much.  but, it was fun just chatting with my new friends.  my feet were nasty from it raining and me wearing my rainbow sandals.  oh well!!!!  we went to lunch at this cheap italian restaurant and u had a ring a bell at the end of your table and a waitress would appear...so great.  my pasta and soda were $2.50 US.

a few of us wanted to walk around, we ran into JP, one of the corporate guys.  he had just picked up 3 more girls who got delayed in chicago the day before.  he took 6 of us out dinner to an awesome chinese local restaurant.  super yummy food!!!

lindsay and i headed over to the concession neighborhood via cab to meet up with some ppl to watch the brazil/portugal game.  we were like little kids driving on the bund with all the lights on!  i didnt get pics b/c it was raining.  i found out aimee and i will be working at a center in pudong...which is across the river...super stoked.

well, its 138 am here in shanghai.  don't know how i am not dead tired.  but, i need to attempt to sleep.  we are free to do whatever this weekend, cant wait to explore!!!!

peace out!!!!
